This album is one amazing piece of work. Each tracks on this CD are all great tracks, all produced by Aphrodite. This CD reminds me of Photek, not because of the sound (no, the sound is far different), but because of how original the tracks are from all the rest of Drum n Bass field. There are many genre of Drum n Bass these days, from Techstep, Darkstep to Jazzy to Raggaish. I don't think Aphrodite fits into any of those. It's somewhere in between. When you hear Aphrodite, you will know it's Aphrodite. It has very distinct sound, primarily with synthesizer sound, and breaks that rocks at double beat like 60's rock'n'roll. And if you've heard 2 or 3 tracks from Aphrodite, you can pretty much say that you know Aphrodite. That's the downside of this album. All the songs have same type of sound. But I don't think that's much of a problem since you will not hear this type of sound anywhere else and it is very refreshing to hear something new and fresh. This one's highly recommended. |
